![]() The man who fills his quiver with sons will be very blessed. So in the strong arms of the warrior, we (like arrows) are launched into this world proclaiming the name of Jesus to those who need to hear it. A young mans sons are like the arrows in a soldiers hand. Similarly, we are dependent on God to draw us back in his power and strength and release us into the world being perfectly aimed at the target he has set before us, the target he has hand-crafted us to hit perfectly. It was prestigious, even magical, to have a full quiver of arrows. ![]() Like Legolas in the Lord of the Rings whose quiver never seemed to be short of arrows when needed, he was ready for battle and he was not a bad shot. However, as we ponder over this more deeply, there is a deeper spiritual meaning than meets the eye. These verses seem to agree with the secular view that having many children and grandchildren is a blessing from above. An arrow is dependent on the archer to draw back the arrow in the archer’s strength, and release it, aimed perfectly at the intended target. Having a quiver full of arrows might mean you are ready to ght, or maybe you just never use them. The arrows refer to children, and a quiver full of arrows means having many children. Arrows are designed for a specific purpose and that one purpose is to hit the target which they have been aimed at. Many times Jesus compares receiving the Kingdom of Heaven to childlikeness. The arrows of a mighty man are said to be striking figures of children and a blessedness is declared to be the portion of that man that hath his quiver full of. An arrow can’t do what it was created to do without help. Children have a very high value in Gods heart. children to make disciples of Jesus Christ, do ordain and establish the following statement of faith. ![]() An arrow can’t do anything on its own, meaning it can’t launch itself. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. In Isaiah 49:2 it says, “He made my mouth like a sharpened sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me he made me into a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.” Wow, many of us spend our lives wondering if God is pleased with us, and the Bible says that he’s not only pleased with us, he created us exactly the way we are and has given us a purpose and a reason to be alive. The bible also says that you and I (if we know Jesus) are like arrows hand-crafted and chosen by God himself. God wants us to love and enjoy them but also to train them up and send them out to proclaim Jesus to the world, wherever they go. This metaphor speaks to the missional aspect of raising a child. When people say arrow in the quiver, they are referring to anything that is an additional resource that aids in the. It says in Psalm 127:4 “Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth”. We love how the bible uses arrows to explain some cool stuff.
